Yes, the Lakers play there too sometimes. Then there’s the summer league.
Look, Lake Show Life will find any way to bring Kobe Bryant into the conversation to make a point. Now take this play here when he dunked on Ben Wallace. Granted there are two things that we have to notice here.
- One, yes that’s Ben Wallace. Kinda different looking without the afro huh?
- Two, yes he did play for the Washington Wizards a couple of teams before the Detroit Pistons.
That being said. Sorry Ben.
That Kobe Bryant dude. That man was crazy. Boy, we miss him. But that’s for another day. The point here is, where is the game being played at? Yes. Las Vegas. With the NBA trying to find a place to set up operations, there is a level of familiarity.
Las Vegas may be the future of the 2019-20 NBA season if it resumes. MGM Resorts recently pitched a plan for the league to play out the remainder of the season in Vegas. The local media in Las Vegas (News 3 Sports) is reporting that this is a major option.
"Several news outlets, including Sports Illustrated, report that MGM Resorts International has offered the NBA the chance to finish its season in Las Vegas. MGM’s plan reportedly calls for Mandalay Bay to serve as the hub for the league, since it’s connected to other hotels and a convention center. According to the proposal, as many as 24 basketball courts could be built at the convention center. Players’ families would reportedly be able to stay with them in the quarantined resort."
The league is considering a myriad of options, including playing at Walt Disney World. Las Vegas did take a major PR hit when the mayor had her interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. She went viral after stating she offered Las Vegas to be a control group.
But even if Vegas is not a part in the resumption of play, it could still be the beneficiary of an NBA franchise. Just because a franchise is not located in Vegas now doesn’t mean that it won’t have a franchise in the future.
Remember Oklahoma City was home to the Hornets during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005. The NBA moved the then named Hornets out of New Orleans. A few years later a franchise pops up that we now call the Thunder.
Lake Show Life is not saying that Shaquille O’Neal’s myriad of Lakers rumors is wrong.
We are saying that the NBA fans might want to start paying attention. There are financial moves being made behind the scenes.
