2. The Los Angeles Lakers need to turn the ball over less
Again, this is something that the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers have not thrived at this season, either. The Clippers commit the 16th fewest turnovers per game and the Bucks are 20th. The Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, are 22nd with 15.1 turnovers per game, the same amount as the Bucks.
None of the three legitimate contenders are particularly great in terms of their peers in protecting the basketball, so this might not seem like a pressing need, but it can be the difference between the Lakers winning and losing a close playoff series.
On top of that, the Lakers also rank 20th in the league in turnover ranking, committing 13.2 turnovers for every 100 possessions. Again, not a massive concern, but it could lead the team down a bad path.
This is especially true in the most unique NBA Playoffs in the history of the league. Nobody is truly going to be 100 percent going into the Orlando bubble and it is going to be the teams that commit the fewest mistakes that are going to win the most games.
Committing 2-3 fewer turnovers per game very well could shift a series in the Lakers’ favor. The Bucks and Clippers are both already really tall tasks and the team cannot afford to stab themselves in the foot.
The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten this far with the way they have played and if they clean a few things up, they could prove to be the readiest team for the Orlando Bubble and march their way to a championship.
