Los Angeles Lakers’ trade target from the Portland Trail Blazers: Rodney Hood

There are several factors that go into potentially trading for Rodney Hood, as if you have followed Hood at all this season, you know that he suffered a torn Achilles and only played 21 games this season. Because of that, he might not seem like the best player to acquire via trade.

First of all, Hood as a player option for the 2020-21 season. I would predict that it is likely that he would not use his player option to become a free agent after coming off of injury and with the status of the free-agent market and the potential cap situation.

He also would more than likely be open to a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers as he would then be on a contending team.

Hood was injured in early December and the consensus was that he might miss part of the beginning of the season in 2020. With the season being moved back to December, however, Hood might be ready to start the season and even if he isn’t, he won’t miss much time and will be ready for most of the games next season.

For the Lakers, Hood is a stylistic fit as he is a lengthy three and D player that would simply be another off-ball weapon for LeBron James. For the Portland Trail Blazers, it makes sense to get whatever you can out of one year of Hood after he is coming off of an Achilles injury.

The price would not be high and this could have some fun potential for the Lakers.
