The Los Angeles Lakers’ sharpshooters:
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – Splash Mountain
The honor of being compared to Splash Mountain should be awarded to the Lakers’ best perimeter shooter this season, which has been Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
RELATED: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is better than you think
On the season, Caldwell-Pope is shooting career-high 39.4 percent from beyond the arc and is the Lakers’ fourth-leading scorer behind James, Davis and Kyle Kuzma. Sure, he might take a questionable shot now and then but for the most part, KCP’s jumper has been as wet as they come.
Danny Green – Star Tours — The Adventure Continues
Originally I was going to give Green Splash Mountain but KCP took that away from him. The next best ride that can be used to describe him is Star Tours – The Adventure Continues. While it doesn’t highlight his jump shot, it does speak to the fact that Green has had one of the more favorable NBA careers of any sharpshooter in the league.
He’s managed to win two rings with Kawhi Leonard and is now linked up with James and Davis en route to a third. His prowess on both the defensive end and beyond the arc makes him one of the most coveted role players every time that he hits the free-agent market.
With Bradley now gone, Green will be asked to take on more responsibility on the defensive end and hopefully, he’ll be able to rise to the challenge. Still one of the league’s premier 3-and-D players, Green’s adventure is far from over.
Avery Bradley – Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Although he’s no longer technically on the team, Bradley was a huge part of the Lakers’ success this season and simply can’t be forgotten.
This one was tough but after a lot of thinking, Bradley can best be compared to Mickey’s PhiharMagic for a couple of reasons.
During his time with the Lakers, he served as the primary defender for opposing team’s best perimeter player and gladly took on the challenge without complaining. Having to guard Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Luka Doncic and Damian Lillard isn’t easy but Bradley always did it, most of the time picking them up all 94-feet of the court.
His stint with the Lakers was like a magic show in many ways. He gave us laughs, had some big performances that left us in awe and were well worth the price of admission. With Bradley choosing to opt-out in order to ensure his family’s safety, the magic that he gave us is gone but like any good magician, we’ll never forget the tricks that he showed us.
