Los Angeles Lakers: Comparing each player to a Disney World ride
By Najee Adams
The Los Angeles Lakers’ fan favorites:
Alex Caruso – The Hall of Presidents
No ride quite captures the greatness of the GOAT that is Alex Caruso but The Hall of Presidents comes close. It’s not even really a ride, it’s a show that features speeches from all 45 of the United States’ presidents.
What better an attraction to describe Caruso than one that features all of the country’s leaders. The impact that they made on the United States pales in comparison to the one that Caruso has made on the Lakers, but that’s fine. With Bradley out, Caruso will hopefully get even more time in the rotation to prove to coach Frank Vogel that he’s their best option at point guard.
He’s aggressive on the defensive end and has the basketball IQ needed to succeed alongside LeBron James. Watch out Kanye West, you might have some competition if Caruso chooses to follow your lead and run in the 2020 presidential race.
Jared Dudley – Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
The PeopleMover takes riders all around the park and serves as a tour guide for those new to all that Disney World has to offer. Just like the ride, Dudley instills knowledge in younger players that aren’t yet acquainted with NBA-style basketball.
He’s one of the most respected veterans in the league because he knows his role and plays it extremely well. Never clamoring for more minutes on the court, he consistently does all of his work off of it. After tough losses or long stretches of games with no rest, Dudley steps in and guides the guys in a way that maybe James and Davis can’t.
His leadership is invaluable to this Lakers team and they will need it now more than ever as they head into the NBA’s bubble.
Rajon Rondo – Walt Disney World Railroad
Yes, Rajon Rondo is in the fan favorites section.
Not because he’s loved amongst Lakers fans, but simply because he didn’t fit any of the other categories. His best comparison is the Walt Disney World Railroad due to the fact that like Rondo, the railroad used to be one of the greatest rides in the park. However, over time other more attractive and complex rides took its spot.
The Lakers continue to hold onto Rondo in the hopes that he can return to a version of himself that simply isn’t there anymore. Just as Disney should with the railroad, the Lakers should look into investing in an upgrade after the season ends.
