Los Angeles Lakers: A checklist of what is needed in the Orlando bubble
By Ronald Agers
The Los Angeles Lakers and the NBA are wearing masks. Be like them and wear yours!
There have been debates all over the country about COVID-19 from who’s to blame to wearing masks. Should you wear masks? Yes. But to the ones who are dead set on not wearing masks but have been complaining about no sports for the last three months, let’s reflect a bit.
Remember when the NBA got shut down and why?
There have been some charged comments around Lake Show Life about the combination of sports and politics leading up to the restart of the season. Well, get used to it because as long as the pandemic goes on and the positive cases in Florida continue to increase, this marriage will continue.
Bottom line, the NBA needs the virus out of the bubble at all costs. The Los Angeles Lakers are showing that they are on board with this.
The NBA season is not a guaranteed lock to finish. Adam Silver is already on record stating that a virus outbreak in the bubble can shut down the season again. There is a small window here and everything has to be done right for the fans to get the best players on the floor through October.
Per ESPN.
"“We won’t be surprised when they first come down to Orlando if we have some additional players test positive,” Silver told Fortune Brainstorm Health. “What would be most concerning is once players enter this campus and then go through our quarantine period, then if they were to test positive or if we were to have any positive tests, we would know we would have an issue. “… We would know that there’s, in essence, a hole in our bubble or that our quarantine or our campus is not working in some way,” Silver added later. “So that would be very concerning.” Silver said any significant amount of positive cases inside the protected campus could result in a second shutdown of the NBA season."
Think this is a joke Lakers fans? Take a look at the Brooklyn Nets roster.
In short, think if LeBron James or Anthony Davis catches COVID-19. They are banished for two weeks. That’s a playoff series and it could cost the Lakers dearly.
That’s just the basketball court. It could save lives starting with your own.
Wear your masks!
