In LA with the Lakers, LeBron James and his net worth are booming

LeBron James is in the midst of his second season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and in his 17th NBA season, things could not be going better for him and the team, all things considered.

James has taken on a new role as the point guard of the Lakers this season and has proven his excellence in yet another facet of the game. As the primary facilitator for the Lakers, James leads the NBA in assists per game (10.6).

When James came to Los Angeles, many pegged it as a business-first move with retirement and a wind-down from his storied NBA career in mind. James and the Lakers have proven that to be untrue, as the Lakers lead the Western Conference standings with a 49-14 record and favorites to win this year’s NBA Championship.

Still, James has established a balanced professional career in the LA community, venturing into business opportunities and expanding his portfolio. Lakers rumors indicate his net worth is closing in on a truly historic mark.

LeBron James net worth and love for LA revealed in recent Lakers rumors

Recently, Colin Cowherd on his radio/TV show The Herd discussed LeBron James and his love for being in Los Angeles as well as his net worth and business developments.

Firstly, Cowherd mentioned that James and his family are absolutely loving LA.

"“The business stuff in LA has gone through the ceiling. It’s been better than I thought,” Cowherd said. “I’m told by people close to LeBron he loves LA, his kids love LA, his family loves LA…”"

Cowherd then went on to mention James’s business success and tossed out a number that doesn’t seem to have been previously known as his net worth. Cowherd notes that this information is coming from people “close” to LeBron.

"“…the billionaires have lined up to support LeBron, his net worth is now $750 million, he’s close to being a billionaire, and the businesses are unbelievable.”"

If Cowherd’s sources are correct, LeBron James now has a net worth of $750 million — three-quarters of the way to becoming a billionaire. It’s important to note that Cowherd’s sources aren’t crystal clear, and the number could be a little more than or a little less than what it is in reality, especially with how volatile the domestic and international markets have been as of late.

That said, James is the fifth-highest paid athlete according to Forbes 2020 list, and his investment portfolio has only grown over the years. Him jumping up to $750 million isn’t inconceivable. His latest reported net worth was just under half a billion dollars in 2018.

Well on his way to becoming a billionaire, it’s likely he’ll get there before he retires from the NBA. For reference, Michael Jordan didn’t become a billionaire until 2014, a decade after his final game as an NBA player.
