1.) Is the Los Angeles Lakers’ chemistry still there?
This is perhaps the most important thing to look for. Not only during these three scrimmage games but for the eight regular-season games and into the post-season. At the time of the suspension, the Lakers were absolutely rolling.
Team chemistry was at an all-time high and we were beginning to see the fully actualized version of the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Role players such as Danny Green, Dwight Howard, and Alex Caruso were also coming into their own, giving their two superstar teammates the help they needed.
With the season being put on hiatus for 4+ months, it’s hard to imagine that the chemistry will still be there. Unfortunately, there’s no substitute for playing actual NBA games with your teammates, and no amount of Zoom calls or text messages can replace that.
There have been some rumors that the team has gotten together and worked out in secret at a court in Los Angeles, but by and large, the team hasn’t had any real, structured practices since March.
One thing the Los Angeles Lakers have going for them is that so far, no one on the roster has currently tested positive for COVID-19, which means they’ve been able to practice at full strength from the start of the bubble and re-develop that chemistry that they had during the initial regular season.
