The Los Angeles Lakers might have signed the steal of the entire rebooted season in Dion Waiters!
Rob Pelinka is the NBA Executive of the Year! Mail it to him now. If you think the J.R. Smith signing made little sense, Dion Waiters was an instant debate. But for now, the one thing everyone knows in the Orlando bubble, not just the Lakers is that this man can score!
Waiters is thriving in his role as a scorer and playmaker off the bench, putting down 18 points, six assists and three rebounds.
The reason why Dion Waiters is outplaying J.R. Smith in the bubble is that he knew that his bread is buttered by putting the ball in the basket. That’s his strength and he relies on it. The other stuff like the playmaking will come along like in this game here. He really believes that this is no big deal to him putting up numbers like this.
The big surprise is that he is scoring most of his points late in the 4th quarter. For the second time in this “scrimmage season,” he scored big baskets down the stretch. Like J.R., however, he’s going to have to be able to do this in situations that he is called on.
