Los Angeles Lakers: 5 Lessons (FLAWS!) in loss to the Toronto Raptors
By Ronald Agers
Frank Vogel got outcoached by Nick Nurse and it wasn’t even close!
When will Frank Vogel figure out that Dion Waiters and Alex Caruso are totally outperforming Danny Green and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope? How about if he’s going to put J.R. Smith out on the floor, give him enough time for his deodorant to evaporate.
As bad as the team looked on the floor in this game, Frank Vogel was worse. Here are some of the mistakes in the game that was maddening.
- There were no adjustments to Toronto’s defensive pressure in the first half to get AD established.
- Danny Green played 20 minutes. He should have played 5.
- From a guy that did not like the Dion Waiters signing, can you please play the man more???!!!!! He competed.
- The man is a walking bucket. 12 points in 22 minutes. Danny Green 0 points in 20 minutes. See how the math is different?
- Noticing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s confidence is waning. 5 points with a team-low plus/minus of -27 is not going to get it in two weeks.
- Somehow shore up the perimeter defense. Defensive coach right? 14 shots from the land of the extra point has been a problem since the team hit the bubble. Also, none of the guards can stay in front of anybody!
The Lakers will get their next chance to clean this mess up when they take on the Utah Jazz on Monday. In the meantime, they’ll need to watch the tape from this one, get back in the gym and watch the tape again.
These types of matchups are waiting for them if they want to make it to the NBA Finals. Because if you think the Raptors are tough, Milwaukee is lethal. The Lake Show Life staff watch other NBA games too.
