3. Let’s not forget that Anthony Davis has LeBron James as a teammate
This kind of goes hand-in-hand with the first point of this article but let’s take a historical look at it. Not only are the Lakers not at an experience disadvantage, as long as they don’t play the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals, but history indicates that Davis not having a lot of playoff experience does not really even matter.
Let’s look at LeBron’s last title-winning team, the 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron’s two best teammates on that team were Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, who prior to the 2014-15 season, had absolutely no playoff experience.
And yes, the Cavaliers did win the title in their second season after the team was able to get some playoff experience the year prior, but they absolutely would have beaten the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals if the team stayed healthy.
The Cavaliers were the better team in 2015, period. The Warriors were the better team every other year so it evened out, but the Cavaliers should have won the 2015 NBA Finals and were struck with the injury bug.
They were the better team despite no experience for the second and third star. Why? Because LeBron is as experienced as it comes and he makes up for any lack of experience that Davis has.
LeBron has taken Anthony Davis under his wing this season and that will continue into the playoffs. AD will know exactly how to prepare, how to ease the nerves and what to do when the going gets tough, because of LeBron.
If Davis was the best player on the Lakers and they had a different second superstar, let’s just say Paul George, then the combined inexperience would be worrisome.
