Los Angeles Lakers: Players that should replace Danny Green as a starter
By Ronald Agers
Kyle Kuzma, after his first scrimmage game bomb, has actually played the most consistent of the Los Angeles Lakers!
It’s over folks. The narrative is now fact. The Los Angeles Lakers need this guy to take his spot as “third guy” to perform and the first step is to give him Danny Green’s spot.
Granted he was terrible in the Dallas game that was capped off with him getting blown by with a Luka Doncic drive that ended with a vicious dunk. But something happened. Jason Reed embarrassed him with a Lake Show Life tweet and all of a sudden, he got inspired.
Ever since he dropped 25 points against the Orlando Magic, Kuzma has regained his confidence from the 3 point line but more importantly, he’s paying more attention to detail on his defensive assignments and footwork.
Since then, Kuzma has not put up gaudy scoring numbers, but he is hitting timely shots when the team needs them. When the Lake Show Life staff looks at the box scores, more likely than not Kuz has knocked down two or more 3 point shots per game.
This is what the Lakers need in the starting lineup. LeBron James has not come out early looking to score while instead wanting to find shooters. Danny Green is not hitting the corner 3 point shot which is his responsibility.
The complaint this season was that Kyle Kuzma can only score when either Davis and/or LeBron is out. That is no longer the case. Kuzma has improved. Lake Show Life has already made it clear that Kyle Kuzma is not only an X-factor for the playoffs but the entire franchise going forward.
It will be interesting to see if Kuzma will keep this up now that Rajon Rondo is back to the bubble and is believed to play this season. One of the main reasons Kuzma’s progress was stunted was the fact that he was paired up with a ball-dominant point guard in Rajon Rondo.
Kuzma plays at his best when he’s creating shots for himself. He had better take advantage of his chances now with Rondo sidelined.
Right now, he deserves a chance to be in the starting lineup.
