2. Danny Green has not had as profound of an impact on the Los Angeles Lakers as expected
Danny Green was touted as the Los Angeles Lakers’ best signing in free agency last offseason. After missing out on Kawhi Leonard, the Lakers had to scramble and bring in several free agent and Green stood out from the pact.
His championship pedigree along with his three and D profile made him a natural fit for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. And while Green has been a solid player, he has not had the profound impact that was expected of him.
Green’s offense struggles to expand past the Orlando bubble. While I will not go as far as to say that he has been bad this season, he definitely took a step back this year from last year and these struggles in the bubble are just now highlighting it.
Green has been good defensively but the team still struggles with its perimeter defense and can definitely replace what Green offers on the defensive side of the court. He has not been this revolutionary defender that is forcing himself into the rotation with his defensive efforts.
Simply put, he has been a solid role player that can be replaced and can absolutely be improved upon. If there is an offer that the Lakers like for Green they likely will not think twice about moving on from the two-time (hopefully three-time) champion.
