The Los Angeles Lakers play for real in 6 days! Will Lake Show Life Lessons be learned?

The Los Angeles Lakers fanbase have had a lot say lately during the Lakers season reboot. Some call it theory. We call it excuses.

  • Games not mattering even though the team was struggling.
  • Debates on if LeBron James is hurt or is he saving himself for the playoffs!
  • Anthony Davis’ disappearing acts.
  • Bad defense (Oh that didn’t change! Denver nearly won the game with bench players!)
  • 3 point perimeter defense being a problem (They gave up 13-23 from distance. 56.5% clip!)

Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma combined for 81 points against the Nuggets. Plus they all played over 30 minutes. It’s a good thing too. Some Nuggets players were having target practice on the Lakers. Something that is a common occurrence in Orlando. After allowing random players to go crazy in games, check out these numbers.

  • Michael Porter scored 15 points, hitting all six of his shots. He would have scored 25 easy had he not been on a minutes restriction.
  • Paul Millsap scored 13 points on 5-7 shooting. He may have scored 25 easy if he wasn’t on a minutes restriction.
  • Mason Plumlee scored 11 points on 5-8 shooting and carved up the Lakers interior defense with 5 assists.
  • P.J. Dozier dropped 18 points on 5-7 shooting (Hit both 3 pointers!) and if he hadn’t missed his one free throw, this would be a different post game report.

None of these players are stars. The Denver Nuggets shot 58% from the floor in this game. The point? The Lakers defense, especially on the perimeter continues to be awful.

The bench:

Markieff Morris got some much-needed run in this game and played well. 8 points (On the strength of two 3 pointers!) and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes is a solid night of work off the bench!

Dion Waiters continues to put up buckets in Orlando. Now the efficiency is coming with it. Waiters scored 12 points on 5-8 shooting. He didn’t force shots and stayed within the offense!

The Los Angeles Lakers play the final seeding game on Thursday against the Sacramento Kings. The Kings were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention and will probably have their bags already packed.

Next. Free agents to replace Avery Bradley if he leaves. dark

With the Lakers having the No. 1 seed locked up, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Frank Vogel rest his veteran players. (Hey Slick! If they don’t, you can help write the Lake Show Life Lessons!)
