Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Lessons in season finale loss to Sacramento Kings
By Ronald Agers
Lake Show Life will admit that we were wrong about Dion Waiters! Our bad!!!
The Los Angeles Lakers lost by 14 points in this game. They should have lost by 40 points. Believe it or not, the game was raising a few eyebrows with about 4 minutes to go. Why?
Dion Waiters will shoot the ball under any circumstances and if he gets it rolling, his contributions will be a very exciting addition to this playoff run.
This dude is so swagged out, it’s just fun to watch him walk around like he owns Walt Disney World!
In 26 minutes, Dion Waiters scored a team-high 19 points on 8-15 shooting while knocking down three triples in six tries. He also had 5 assists and 3 rebounds.
One thing though. Dion has to stop trying to force those cross court passes in the half court offense. Leave that to LeBron James. He’s 6’8. Waiters is not.
If there was a competition for playing time between Waiters and J.R. Smith, the game is over and Dion won. It wasn’t even close. He just fits better in the Lakers scheme of things. He has been better than advertised. If he can shoot the 3 point shot with any consistency, he may not be the mirror image of Lou Williams in a conference final, but he’s a factor the Lakers did not have before he showed up.
It is reported that Rob Pelinka might be getting screwed for NBA Executive of the Year award. Let’s discuss one of his free-agent pickups.
