Los Angeles Lakers: 4 Lessons in Game 3 win over Portland Trail Blazers
By Ronald Agers
LeBron James came out aggressive and just destroyed the Portland Trail Blazers!
LeBron James finally illustrated what Lake Show Life was begging for since the seeding games started. DOMINATE! Get angry. Get insulted. Remind people to check the dental records. Hand out some business cards.
Folks, he did to Portland in this game what he did to the Toronto Raptors all those years in Cleveland. Boy, it was a joy to watch an aggressive LeBron James for a change. Just stop, watch and learn what dominant means.
The series ended in game two when Gary Trent Jr. got under James’ skin. Lake Show Life mentioned in the last post-game report that even though he only scored 10 points, he focused more on posting Trent up.
It carried over to a perfect blend of game one facilitating and aggressive scoring in game 3. With Trent guarding LeBron, “The King” dropped 20 on his head on 7-8 shooting. This might be the last time you see a guard defending LeBron in this series.
James still took whatever he wanted in this game providing physicality not seen before the shutdown. Even the two offensive fouls he got throwing elbows sent a message.
- He was getting to the basket, carving up Portland’s interior with buckets.
- After the interior was broken down, he hit them with well-timed lob passes to AD and passes to corner 3-point shooters.
- He took Gary Trent out of this game and maybe the series. Terry Stotts needs to pray that Carmelo Anthony can slow him down. LeBron will lick his chops if another guard defends him.
All told, LeBron James ended the night with a stat line of 38 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals. Also, he hit 4-8 from downtown. With this win, LeBron James moved up to second in all-time playoff wins with 158 passing Tim Duncan. Who would have thought Derek Fisher would be number one with 161? That record will be passed in a couple of weeks.
LeBron James has also inserted himself to the 3rd slot in all-time 3 point shots with 375. Ray Allen will be next to fall. He is second with 385. Dude can put up numbers, can’t he?
Sure we mentioned the missed free throws and turnovers but he has time to clean it up. The Blazers can’t stop him.
While LeBron James dominated pretty much the whole game, Anthony Davis waited until the second half to produce. Read on to see his exploits next!
