The Los Angeles Lakers’ chemistry is a huge reason for the team’s success.

On October 22nd of 2019, the Los Angeles Lakers opened their season against the Los Angeles Clippers. Ever since this moment, we’ve pit both teams against one another and questioned which team would build chemistry faster.

However, despite sharing headlines, fans, and even the same arena, the Lakers have done an excellent job of distancing themselves from the Clippers in both the standings and their collective conscience as a team.

When the Denver Nuggets shocked the basketball world by completing their second 3-1 comeback in as many playoff series, the Lakers barely reacted at all.

When asked why, Kyle Kuzma summed it up best:

“… We’re not focused on the Clippers, and we never really were.”

With Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum taking shots at Patrick Beverly and Paul George after the disheartening loss, it’s easy to perceive Kuzma’s comments as yet another slight against the overzealous Clippers.

However, Kuzma may be right. The Lakers have had an emotional roller coaster of a season. There has been plenty to focus on internally and, frankly, I’d have to agree that there’s some truth to his statements.
