Los Angeles Lakers: No Patrick Beverley antics in the Conference Finals!
By Ronald Agers
The Los Angeles Lakers might have had a different first-round opponent had Pat Bev kept quiet!
Make no mistake. The Portland Trail Blazers had a steep mountain to climb to get into the NBA playoffs. Lake Show Life knew how dangerous they were when the Lakers met them in the first round. What made them dangerous? A very motivated and focused superstar in Damian Lillard.
It was rumored that the Clippers were trying to LOSE the game to get the Blazers in the first round because they believed Portland could upset the Lakers.
Lillard missed two free throws that led to this!
Paul George decided to wave while Patrick Beverley kept pointing to his wrist meaning “Dame Time”.
Lillard talked about both players courtesy of USA Today.
"“I’m sure he has a great memory of that,” Lillard said of Beverley losing in the 2014 playoffs. “That is why that drew that type of reaction from him when he saw me come up short at the end of the game.” “PG did the wave because he was also surprised because he experienced being waved at last year,” said Lillard. “I know what happened. I expect myself to make those free throws and I didn’t when my team needed it. That is a failure for me that I can accept.”"
After that Dame went absolutely crazy knocking down shots close to the half-court line basically willing Portland to the playoffs. They took the first game of the series before LeBron and AD woke up and he eventually got hurt.
But you better believe Lillard and his backcourt mate C.J. McCollum led the massive trolling in social media after the Clippers lost.
Look Lake Show Life is a media website covering the Los Angeles Lakers just like many other Lakers websites. The big difference is we do have a basic basketball mentality. This is what true ballers that play around the world on every level thinks about players like Patrick Beverley.
