Los Angeles Lakers: Anthony Davis sinks Denver in Game 2, 5 Lessons!
By Ronald Agers
LeBron James showed out in the first half for the Los Angeles Lakers! The second half? Well, thank God for Anthony Davis!
LeBron James was in the news lately for his obvious disappointment in his 85-16 landslide loss to Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP. In the first half, James looked like he wanted to send a message to the voting committee.
LeBron ran over the Denver roster in the first half scoring 20 points carrying the Lakers offense. He wasn’t gunning either, he was wildly efficient. He collected his points on 72% shooting from the field, including an absurd 75% shooting from the 3 point line.
After catching a lob from Rajon Rondo, it looked like LeBron was going for 50.
The Lakers haven’t needed James to take over a game for them offensively so far in the postseason, but it does lead to a question. Does LeBron James scoring at the clip he was scoring early affect the aggressiveness of AD?
Then there’s the second half.
LeBron did not play well. The offense had no rhythm of flow to the offense to start the third frame, and the Lakers were outscored 28-22 in the third quarter. His aggressiveness disappeared as he started firing up long-distance shots.
This post-game report would a lot different if a few players didn’t step up and hit some big shots.
After James’ hot start, he ended up with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Bottom line, his turnovers in the 4th quarter (6 overall!) helped the Nuggets cause.
He carried the Los Angeles Lakers in the first half. But in the second half, the Los Angeles Lakers carried him!
