Los Angeles Lakers lose to Denver Nuggets in Game 3, 5 Lessons
By Ronald Agers
Lake Show Life will explain how LeBron James can have a triple-double and still have a bad game!
Okay, let’s get the stats out of the way for all of the LeBron James fans out there. LeBron James collected his 26th playoff triple-double scoring 30 points, dishing out 11 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds. Let’s give him credit for the rebounds because well Anthony Davis had issues doing it (More on him later!).
There was a debate on Inside the NBA after the game with Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. Barkley said LeBron did not have a good game while Shaq said LeBron played okay.
Either way, that is not good enough for the Los Angeles Lakers. The writer of this report agrees with Charles Barkley. Here’s why…Jerami Grant.
Jerami Grant was playing terrible not only in this series, but the prior one as well. Looking at the highlights, look at the defensive positioning of LeBron throughout. In this game, Grant was a major factor that the Lakers had no answer for. LeBron James was supposed to be guarding him. Nikola Jokic is a big enough problem to deal with down low. Jamal Murray is a budding superstar. There is no way Grant can get loose as well.
Now let’s deal with the turnovers.
The Denver Nuggets jumped out to an 18 point lead in the first half, thanks to careless turnovers by the Lakers. Most of them were collected by LeBron who had 5 before halftime.
LeBron James is supposed to set the tone for the entire team. His intensity was not there and the Lakers followed his lead. He, along with Anthony Davis, are supposed to be the ones to bring the energy. He didn’t.
Speaking of Anthony Davis, even though he collected stats with LeBron, he may have played even worse. Read on to see what we are talking about!
