To Magic Johnson who started all of this: America…You can do Magic!!!

If you hear any talk of Magic Johnson in a negative tone connected to the Los Angeles Lakers, that person is not a fane or has a clue about basketball. When the man brought home the first of five NBA titles in the Showtime era, he set the foundation of the standard that this team has today.

The Los Angeles Lakers win tonight, they would have as many titles since 1980 (11) as the rest of the Western Conference combined. Magic Johnson is connected to ALL of them!

Then the casual fan will bring up the Kobe/Shaq era. Okay, they might be teenagers. They don’t know any better. Oops, he was part-owner of the Lakers during that time. Yes, he owned 4.5 percent. (Anyone rolling their eyes can look at your bank account and buy some shares of an NBA team!)

Now the team’s success started with his moves as an executive. Let’s just say being the hatchet man isn’t easy.

Lake Show Life was extremely critical of the front office last season. Last year was full of drama that leaked stories on almost a daily basis. Magic Johnson was fined on a monthly basis it seemed. The Anthony Davis saga at the trade deadline was a mess that divided the locker room. Okay his missile strikes on ESPN didn’t help.

However, this championship does not start without his first trade. Boy it looked dumb watching Lou Williams play so well for the last couple of seasons. After the Magic City disaster during the restart. Wanna relive that discussion again?

If he doesn’t clear off the horrible contracts of 2016, no LeBron James or Anthony Davis. PERIOD! Magic Johnson was brought in to change the culture of the Los Angeles Lakers. he did that.

In the Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak regime, does anyone want to list the top free agents ready to sign? Now the Lakers have two of the top five players in the NBA. This doesn’t happen without getting rid of Timofey Mozgov’s contract and stretching Luol Deng’s deal.
