Many hate Rob Pelinka around the NBA. Boy, they hate him more now!
To Rob Pelinka, the architect of the Lake Show Mafia: Nas…Hate me now!
Rob Pelinka didn’t get NBA’s Executive of the Year Award. Okay, that’s all right. See Sam Presti, the OKC Thunder GM took the Clippers to the cleaners offloading Paul George. No problem. The problem is the GM, Lawrence Frank, who made the Paul George deal won the award.
Something that Jared Dudley had no problems making his feelings known soon after.
Is the voting process is rigged? No. But Rob Pelinka deserves a ton of credit for turning things around after Magic Johnson, abruptly quit.
There weren’t many in NBA circles that would have believed Pelinka would have a job this season, much less running the show. He was ridiculed, insulted with his credibility and qualifications questioned. A LOT!
But the man did not say a word. He just made deals in his office. Like he’s supposed to and has quietly set the team up with options for 20-21.
Think about it. After the Frank Vogel press conference, have you heard from him? That’s the point.
The mandating of selecting the coaching staff was the reason why Jared Dudley is upset. Forget the team building how about the coaches?
How many people believed in Frank Vogel after Tyronn Lue and Monty Williams said no to the Lakers? (Yeah, right. Stop lying!). Pelinka went out and got Phil Handy, the best assistant coach in the NBA (BY A MILE!) that no one knows about. Then got Lionel Hollins who made the Memphis Grizzlies who they are (Pre Ja’ Morant!). Finally, he got the underrated LeBron whisper in Jason Kidd.
Finally, let’s close this up with the others. You know the team Pelinka put together on a shoestring budget.
