The doors that could be opened by signing Danilo Gallinari:

I know, I know. You are probably sick of hearing about Kyle Kuzma trade rumors. They have been a thing for a year now and the Lakers never pulled the trigger, so it seems like they never will. However, with Gallinari, a door opens for the Lakers.

Gallinari is essentially a better and more experienced version of Kyle Kuzma. He shoots far more consistently than Kuzma does and while he may not have as much explosiveness, he can get to the basket like Kuzma and is going to be a wash on the defensive end.

Personally, if I had to choose, I would absolutely throw Kuzma’s name out there in trade discussions and roll with a forward duo of Gallinari and Markieff Morris. Those two are fantastic fits on the team and a Kuzma trade allows the team to bring in more talent.

Kuzma and Danny Green could be packaged for a backcourt improvement over Green. Then, in essence, the Lakers would be improving both at the forward position with Gallinari and to prevent a position log-jam, would improve in the backcourt by packging Kuzma with Green.,

It is an optimal situation where signing Gallinari allows the Los Angeles Lakers to knock out two birds with one stone, making this an even better signing for the purple and gold.
