3. New York Knicks

Perhaps the desire to win a championship is not prominent after winning with the Los Angeles Lakers. Perhaps the fit is not as big of a deal to Rondo, who is a veteran and can fit into any system. Perhaps the most important thing to Rajon Rondo is how much money he will make, which if so, makes the New York Knicks a great fit.

This is not coming out of thin air, either. The Knicks are rumored to be interested in pursuing Rondo in free agency this season and while it does not make a ton of sense personnel-wise, it is the perfect Knicks move to move.

New York would overpay Rondo to lure him away from any contender in free agency, allowing the veteran point guard to maximize his earnings over the next 2-3 seasons. Rondo is not someone who moves the needle in New York, will recruit a superstar or will honestly even be worth how much the Knicks will probably pay him.

And as we have seen, Rondo plays his best when he is really motivated in the playoffs. Is he going to be all-that motivated on the Knicks?

It is moves like these that keep setting the Knicks back and that is why I think this has legitimate legs. Rondo is a great player… as a role player on a title-contending team. All he would be on the Knicks is potential trade bait in a year or two.

But hey, if the Knicks offer Rondo an offer that he cannot refuse can you really blame him?
