3. Toronto Raptors

If Kentavious Caldwell-Pope goes to any legitimate contending team in the offseason I would put money on that team being the Toronto Raptors. They are one of few contending teams that check the boxes to make a KCP signing make sense.

According to Spotrac, the Raptors have just under $20 million in practical cap space this offseason and that is before working out a new deal with Fred VanVleet. Even with a new deal, though, the Raptors should have just enough to get a long-term contract done with KCP if that is what he desires.

The Raptors could use more depth in the backcourt as well. VanVleet and Kyle Lowry are a great place to start but the team is lacking depth behind those two. Terence Davis and Patrick McCaw are okay pieces but do not have the same impact that KCP would have.

KCP’s defense fits into this team’s identity perfectly and as a high-volume three-point shooting team, the Raptors would provide a great place for KCP to let it rip from deep. The Raptors were one of the most prominent three-point shooting teams last season without a depth option like KCP.

The team also has Kyle Lowry’s contract off the books after the season, so there should not be any concerns about KCP’s contract restricting the team in any way moving forward.
