Markieff Morris: Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers signed Markieff Morris on the buyout market late in the regular season and in a short time with the team Morris proved that he is a fantastic fit with what the team is trying to do and absolutely should be re-signed for his efforts.

To me, Morris represents a more consistent version of what the Lakers want Kyle Kuzma to be — someone that can stretch the floor and hit a few big shots while also playing good-enough defense on the other end.

The highs are certainly higher with Kuzma, but the consistency is there with Morris and that absolutely should warrant a new contract from the Lakers. Morris hit some big shots and had some big games for the Lakers in the NBA Playoffs and was very versatile for the team as well.

He showed the ability to guard some small forwards when needed and even played small-ball center, starting the final two games of the second round against the Houston Rockets.

Morris is not a big-name free agent and while there will be teams interested, his market is not going to be all that extensive and the Lakers should be able to bring him back on a reasonable contract.
