1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
There is no secret that this has been the Los Angeles Lakers’ dream scenario from the start. Adding Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Lakers would be, quite literally, unstoppable. The team would get at least one year of LeBron at the one, Giannis at the three and Davis at the four.
But even if/when LeBron does leave, the Los Angeles Lakers would be more than good enough to win the title with a Davis-Giannis partnership. Giannis would essentially be following in the steps of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, hopefully creating a new era of Laker history similar to the Showtime era.
Giannis is a free agent next summer and there are plenty of teams that are going to be bidding on the Greek Freak. The Milwaukee Bucks can pay him the most money and teams such as the Miami Heat have set themselves up perfectly to pursue him next summer.
The Lakers were seemingly planning the same thing as well. All of the contracts that Pelinka agreed to last summer had two-year commitments at most. However, with Anthony Davis expected to sign an extension this offseason it does get a little tricky.
It does depend on how the salary cap rebounds following the coronavirus pandemic and whether or not LeBron would be willing to opt-out of his contract and take a pay cut to make this happen.
If Giannis is interested, though, I am sure LeBron would be more than okay sacrificing a few million dollars to get Giannis.
