Lakers: Free agent point guards that could replace KCP and Rajon Rondo
By Brad Magsam
1. Goran Dragic
How ironic would it be that the player that many think could have made a sizable difference for the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals could be a potential point guard replacement. Goran Dragic is easily the best player on this list of free-agent point guards.
He was second on the team in scoring during the postseason with 19.1 points per game while adding 4.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. His impact was severely missed in their battle with the Los Angeles Lakers as the Heat was unable to find production from anybody outside of Jimmy Butler.
Dragic is one of the smartest basketball players in the NBA. Having played with the great Steve Nash in Phoenix earlier in his career, Goran is one of those guys that players love to play with but hate to play against.
He can be feisty on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and always seems to be at the heart of a scuffle. His passion for the game is something that the Lakers would welcome with open arms to add to an already hard-working roster.
Goran Dragic will be one of the most coveted free agents this offseason, so Rob Pelinka will have some competition. Miami will fight hard to re-sign Dragic in order to try and build on a successful season. With the 34-year-old point guard nearing the tail-end of his career, Dragic will likely be looking to latch onto a championship contender.
With the Los Angeles Lakers coming off a convincing title run, LeBron James and company may be his best chance to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy for the first time in his NBA career.
