1. He simply wants to win

Giannis is a back-to-back MVP winner. But he has yet to even make the NBA Finals, let alone win it. Frustrations can grow thin, as we saw with Kevin Durant in OKC.

For so long OKC couldn’t get over the hump, as they couldn’t surround Russell Westbrook and Durant with enough pieces. There was a run to the 2012 NBA Finals, but then there with exits in the Western Conference Finals three times. Also a trade of James Harden because of luxury tax issues proved to be costly.

Giannis was not afraid to voice his frustration with the Bucks’ play inside the bubble.

So he could feel the window closing in Milwaukee in a similar fashion. The team has parts around him that didn’t seem to fit last year. Now they have a one year window to prove he can win a championship there or he may dip.

With Los Angeles winning a championship and looks to contend for quite awhile. That could be appealing to Giannis. If he decides to leave it will most likely come down to Los Angeles and Miami.

So this offseason will be telling if the Lakers believe they have a chance in 2021. That means they most likely won’t give out long term deals. They will play it like they did the 2019 offseason.
