Los Angeles Lakers: 5 free agents that they could sign to one-year deals
3. Mario Hezonja
After being the 5th overall selection in the 2015 NBA draft, Mario Hezonja has had an up-and-down career. He never had his fourth year picked up by the Orlando Magic on his rookie deal. Now he has been on three teams in three years.
Still at only 25 years old, he has the opportunity to come to the Lakers and boost his value. He is under a player option of $1.9 million with the Blazers that he will most likely opt out of. That leaves the Lakers an option in free agency.
It is widely known that LeBron is great for players to boost their overall values. He has helped Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, Matthew Dellavedova, among many others. So Hezonja at a young age could benefit greatly in the Lakers system.
He has played under Frank Vogel before in Orlando. So he could slide into the system very easily as he knows it.
His defensive play has slipped since his rookie season. But he hasn’t been put in the best situations or the best teams. So being with the Lakers could help him on both ends turn his career in the right direction.
He also has this big moment in his career.
