Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking the four all-star guard trade targets
By Jason Reed
1. Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday is another player that has not been directly tied to the Los Angeles Lakers (yet) but he is going to be available on the trade market. The Atlanta Hawks appear to be the frontrunners right now for Holiday but if the Lakers can make an offer for Holiday then they absolutely should.
Realistically, Holiday is probably the most unlikely player on this list for the Los Angeles Lakers to trade for but there is a reason for that and that is the reason why he is number one on this list. He is the best all-around player of the four without the concerns of the others.
Holiday is on the same level defensively as Oladipo. Holiday as an All-Defensive First Team under his belt as well and while the ceiling is a bit higher with Oladipo defensively, Holiday is more reliable because of his health.
He can shoot the three-ball and is the perfect player to be a third star alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He has experience playing alongside AD and would fit seamlessly on the Lakers.
He could be the operating point guard when LeBron is not on the court and would be fantastic both by facilitating and by utilizing the pick and roll. When LeBron is on the court he can morph into that off-ball option, something he has done in the past with other point guards that were on the Pelicans.
He is a fantastic fit. He is great on both ends of the floor, has experience doing the things the Los Angeles Lakers would need him to do and already has familiarity with AD. What more is there to want?
