3. James Ennis III

James Ennis III has bounced around the NBA in his seven years in the league. He has played for seven different teams since the Atlanta Hawks drafted him in the second round in 2013. He ultimately chose overseas for the 2013-14 seasons.

When he came back to the states he landed with the Miami Heat. He didn’t get much playing time and then bounced around to two more teams in 2015-16. After landing with the New Orleans Pelicans, he showed why he belonged in the NBA.

He went on to have a shooting line of 50/48/79.2 while averaging 15.9 points per night. He played well on both ends of the floor. It helped earn him a small two-year $6 million deal to return to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Over his career, he has been a high energy player that will compete on both ends. He shoots the 3-pointer well at 35% for his career and he is a good slasher to the basket. He runs well in transition when teams get out on the break.

He is currently playing for the Orlando Magic and has a player option of around $2 million for 2020-21. If he opts in he could provide good value for the Lakers and be on the best team he has in his career.

His contract is less than what you’d normally pay a player on a veteran minimum. He wouldn’t be asked to play starter minutes. But he could eat up minutes on the wing.

His ability to run in transition, slash to the basket and shoot the ball will help the team off the bench.
