5. Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons came into this offseason with a new GM in Troy Weaver. They then proceeded to start the free agency with a flurry signing multiple players including Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee. They have also been active on the trade market.

Weaver comes from the Sam Presti tree in OKC. So he is not afraid to make moves, whether it is through trades or in signings. Making Kuzma a possible fit here, as Weaver starts to build the team the way he wants it and move into a new era.

It’s a telling sign of the culture he helped build in OKC. As he was able to land Grant in Detroit, even though the Nuggets offered to match that amount plus possibly offer more. So Kuzma could thrive being in a new system.

The Pistons will have some money to work with, so an extension can be offered to Kuzma that the Lakers might be hesitant to pay. Weaver is really good maneuvering the cap.

Pistons are well equipped with draft compensation that they could send. Maybe this could reignite some Derrick Rose talk? Schröder can also play the two.
