A message from Lake Show Life to the Los Angeles Lakers…Sit AD down until after the All-Star Break PLEASE!

Lake Show Life started this postgame Lake Show Lessons article showing the foreshadowing of not only the Lake Show Life staff but it’s readers as well. There were many others that had concerns as well. But that ship has sailed and now let’s deal with the matter at hand. What’s the deal with Anthony Davis’ Achilles?

Anthony Davis will get an MRI to get insight of the severity of his injury on Monday. AD didn’t seem too concerned about the upcoming MRI as he stated to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell after the game.

"Anthony Davis sounds optimistic about the Achilles strain big picture wise, and initial exams didn’t reveal anything that would cause him real concern, he said, but they’ll do the MRI tomorrow to take a closer look: “Just try and figure out the best steps after [the MRI]).”"

ESPN’s Paul Pierce weighed in on the Anthony Davis situation on Sunday night. Pay particular attention to the description of Achilles Tendonosis…

No matter what is being reported for the next few weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers season has now changed. It was just last week the conversation was about the workload LeBron James was carrying during the homestand. Well, it looks like James will be putting in work for quite a while.

The plan was a healthy Davis carry the heavy lifting while LeBron tries to match his career-low in minutes. Well that plan is gone.

Lake Show Life’s take going forward on the future concerning Anthony Davis…

  • First, the Los Angeles Lakers and its worldwide fanbase needs to pray that there is no tear. Even if it doesn’t show on the MRI, start over and pray again.
  • Now if the Lakers dodge a cannon sized bullet and it’s just reaggravated, the coaching staff, the medical staff, LeBron, Jeanie Buss, Kurt and Linda Rambis and Rich Paul need to do a zoom meeting and tell Anthony Davis to “SIT DOWN”!
  • How long should AD sit out? How about until after the All-Star break at the EXTREME earliest. Hopefully, Frank Vogel can look at some of the rest of the roster and see what they have to offer in a trade. Why?
  • The Los Angeles Lakers may have to offer up those expiring contracts to teams in a trade. There’s going to have to be a backup plan in case AD’s injury is worse than anyone can detect.

This is a franchise-altering situation here Lakers fans. The franchise cannot afford AD to go down with an injury that kept out superstars such as Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins for an entire season or more.

This is not a shoulder injury like he suffered last year that can be played through. This is not about eliminating the narrative about him not being tough enough to win a title. This is a different season under different circumstances.

The good news is the Lakers have about 50 games left in the season to get AD ready and healthy through rehab for the playoffs. Even better, the Lakers have a sizable cushion that will buy time to come up with a plan.

It’ll be bad news if the Lakers handle the injury as they did initially.

The next question will be who will replace Anthony Davis in the starting lineup. Lake Show Life thinks this player is a foregone conclusion. That or we will be shocked.
