3. Dewayne Dedmon

Dedmon is a true center who has plenty of experience not only playing the center position, but playing significant minutes.

Throughout his seven-year career, he’s been known as someone who has pretty good athleticism and can run the floor well. He’s also an adept rebounder and shot-blocker, and he has the ability to finish strong at the rim, especially off the pick-and-roll and lob passes.

Those are exactly the areas in which the Lakers are underperforming at the center position.

Dedmon was traded to the Detroit Pistons in late November and was soon waived. He’s been a free agent since, so he could be an economical choice for the Lakers if he’s healthy and in shape.

Furthermore, he grew up in Lancaster, which is no more than an hour outside of Los Angeles, and he played his college ball at the University of Southern California just blocks away from Staples Center.

If the Lakers did indeed pick up Dedmon, it could be a sort of homecoming for him.
