1. The Los Angeles Lakers are still NBA Championship favorites
The Los Angeles Lakers have not been playing as good of basketball as they could be playing and they still have a 22-9 record on the season. Anthony Davis is currently out and the team has really missed him and Dennis Schroder, who missed two games due to the league’s health and safety protocols.
Despite the current two-game losing streak and the losing record against playoff-caliber teams, the Lakers still have to like their chances of winning the NBA Championship. LeBron James is still LeBron James and he and Anthony Davis is still the toughest duo to defend in the league.

This is the most obvious reason why the Lakers are likely going to sign Cousins as he is obviously going to sign with a contending team. He is not going to sign with a middle-of-the-road team and is going to look to contend for a ring.
There is another notable title-contending team that could use a center that could compete for Boogie, but the Lakers have a big advantage.
