3. The Los Angeles Lakers can get much better

It would be one thing if the Los Angeles Lakers had no other options. If that was the case then the team should keep Jones around and hope that they can make the most of him and he can play better than his career averages. That is not the situation.

There absolutely are going to be better options for the Los Angeles Lakers. Heck, there is a better option on the market right now. DeMarcus Cousins is still a free agent and the fact that they signed Jones over him tells me that they have something bigger on the horizon that they are eyeballing.

Perhaps that could be Hassan Whiteside, who has been reported to interest the team more than Cousins. Perhaps it could be someone such as Robin Lopez, who plays on a terrible Washington Wizards team and is a prime buyout candidate.

Heck, it could be someone such as Blake Griffin or Andre Drummond if neither team can swing a trade for their massive contracts. While neither guy is the best version of themselves, they are much better than Damian Jones.

There are better legitimate options for the Los Angeles Lakers to pursue. There is no reason for the team to settle and Jones is merely a holdover for the roster spot.

dark. Next. How Hassan Whiteside would improve the Lakers

Sorry to any Damian Jones fans.
