Why the Los Angeles Lakers not signing Blake Griffin is a blessing

1. There are much better options out there for the Los Angeles Lakers
Why settle for a guy who doesn’t defend, isn’t a great rebounder and can’t really help offensively when there are other guys who would fit the Lakers’ needs at the center spot pretty well?
I wrote a recent article about three excellent centers the Lakers should target to fill that void. In addition, my colleague Jason Reed wrote an article talking about some reasons for and against trading for Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba, who sounds like he’d be a great option as well.
In addition, there may be a scenario where the Lakers could reacquire McGee, but it’s complicated and I won’t get into that here.
The bottom line is that with general manager Rob Pelinka at the helm, the Lakers are diligent when it comes to looking into players they may want to acquire. They really do their homework and map out many scenarios to make sure that the players they ultimately acquire will get the job done.
Thus far in his tenure in the front office, Pelinka’s track record has been stellar, especially if you look at his track record after Magic Johnson stepped down as president of basketball operations.
Besides, Griffin didn’t even want to join the Lakers in the first place, and he explained why in an AMA with Bleacher Report.
As the old saying goes, no use crying over spilled milk.
