3. The Los Angeles Lakers have so many other options

If the Los Angeles Lakers were desperate then maybe you could make the case of trading for Turner and replacing any hole left behind by KCP with another addition. That is not the case here. The Los Angeles Lakers have so many options to fill this potential need that they don’t need to go after Turner.

The biggest option is Andre Drummond, who could be bought out by the Detroit Pistons this season. Drummond is going to have a market of several teams and the Lakers do not even have to put everything in that basket.

Hassan Whiteside is another option for the Lakers. Not only could he be bought out as well but the Lakers could even trade him for practically nothing. All the Lakers would need is a small contract and a future second-round pick in order to convince the Kings to trade him.

Heck, there is even the possibility of trading for JaVale McGee, although that would take some creativity by Rob Pelinka as the team cannot re-acquire McGee from the Cavaliers. It is possible, though, and we broke down how it could happen in this article.

And if all that fails the Lakers could sign someone such as DeMarcus Cousins, who is still a free agent after being released by the Houston Rockets.

The Los Angeles Lakers have options. Imaging Myles Turner in the purple and gold is fun, but it won’t happen any time soon.
