Lakers Rumors: Could Marc Gasol be headed for a buyout?
By Ronald Agers
Lakers Rumors (Facts!): Marc Gasol is insurance in case AD and LeBron injure themselves again!
It’s no secret that Anthony Davis has been injury prone long before he showed up in Los Angeles. Some wondered why there was a drop off in production earlier this season. But his Achilles tendonosis that was exacerbated by a calf injury has had the Lakers superstar out of the lineup since Valentine’s Day with no set timetable for a return to the lineup.
Stephen A. Smith discussed on First Take what the Lake Show Life was wondering for awhile. His platform is just a little bigger than ours.
The Los Angeles Lakers future is tied to the lower leg of Davis. The franchise can’t afford AD to go the route of the OTHER player in the discussion Kevin Durant. Many have noticed that Durant has been out an extended amount of time in his tenure as a Brooklyn Net. He sat out the entire year for injuries similar to AD.
Now he has an hamstring issue that has lingered for awhile. The Lakers have to balance this year’s championship run with the championship window that is more closer to closing the older LeBron gets.
If lingering issues nag Davis in the playoffs, Marc Gasol is there to help to help in the middle to read and scout defenses. Despite the criticisms, Gasol is still part of the best defensive team in the league with 1.2 blocks per game.
Plus LeBron James loves the fact that he plays on the perimeter that opens up driving lanes to the basket something that might be an issue with Drummond considering he is a traditional center.
Bottom line: Look at the injuries of all of the NBA superstars this season. Marc Gasol is a needed body to place in the lineup based on matchups. It happened with Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee at specific times last year in the bubble and the concept will be used again here this year.
Now that it is established that Marc Gasol will be around for a while. Lake Show Life sees a very productive role for Marc Gasol. Read on how Marc Gasol can help the Lakers.
