Dennis Schroder needs to move down on the priority list of signings for the Los Angeles Lakers!

This drama all started when ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Dennis Schroder turned down a contract offer of four years $84 million.

"The maximum he can sign for is four years and 84 million if he totally maxes out what he’s able to do on an extension. What I have been told – and this rumor is pretty widely out there, so I doubt that this is very surprising – is that the Lakers did indeed offer him that 84 million dollars over four years. Now, this is where we get into gray area. Was it fully guaranteed? Was it partially guaranteed?"

Our Editor, Jason Reed made his feelings known quickly after the reports surfaced.

Whether the rumors are true or not is a discussion for another day, but for now, the discussion now is if Dennis Schroder worth the offer the Lakers have on the table.

Bottom line…Jrue Holiday gave Dennis Schroder the business.

Schroder was inefficient on both ends while Holiday put on a clinic on how to play within an NBA offense. Here are the stats.

  • Jrue Holiday: 28 points (11-16 shooting!), 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and a block.
  • Dennis Schroder: 17 points (6-18 shooting!), 8 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal.

Here’s the video. Just watch Dennis Schroder’s defensive breakdowns on Jrue Holiday and the consistent ball-watching when Giannis has the ball. There’s no urgency or energy to lead his teammates. There was no fight.

That’s just the defensive end, let’s talk about the offense.

Lake Show Life has been critical of Schroder running the offense at times this year. In the first quarter, the Lakers were on fire shooting the ball. Suddenly the offense stalled. Maybe the players that were shooting well didn’t get the ball.

  • Markieff Morris: Opened the game knocking down three shots from downtown in four tries. He got only four more shots the entire game finishing with 15 points on 5-8 shooting.
  • Wesley Matthews: Wild Wild Wes was about to make a return knocking down his first two shots from behind the arc. He only got five more shots the rest of the game finishing with 9 points on 3-7 shooting.
  • Kyle Kuzma: Sure if you look in the box score, Kuz shot an awful 1-9 from behind the 3 point line. But did you know he had a pretty good groove going shooting 5-8 from the field? He finished with 17 points on 7-17 shooting.
  • If Montrezl Harrell didn’t play so hard, he probably wouldn’t have achieved the 11 shots he took in this game.

But Dennis Schroder leads the team in shot attempts with 18? This is unacceptable especially when he misses 12 of them. Here’s where LeBron James is so important for the Los Angeles Lakers. He recognizes the hot hand and feeds them the basketball.

This is one of the worst games of the season for Dennis Schroder. If this keeps up, the Los Angeles Lakers are in a world of trouble.

One might think that if Dennis Schroder played so poorly, why not just sit him down? That’s another problem. None of the other guards on the roster can score! Read on to see how the rest of the guard rotation did.
