WE REPEAT! The Los Angeles Lakers won the buyout market. Seems that Ben McLemore can shoot!
It’s hard to believe that Rob Pelinka was criticized for not pulling the trigger on the Kyle Lowry deal at the trade deadline.
The Lakers’ mission statement for the buyout market was simple. To add missing elements to the team that was needed for a championship run.
- Andre Drummond was brought in to give them a huge center with more speed and athletic juice than Marc Gasol. Mission accomplished.
- Ben McLemore was meant to give them one more shooter to stretch the floor.
Well?

Ben McLemore’s contributions came after the Dennis Schroder ejection. At the end of the third quarter into the fourth, McLemore caught fire from behind the arc, knocking down five from distance to end Brooklyn’s chances. He talked about how impressed he is with his teammates after the game. via Mike Trudell.
"Ben McLemore on what he’s noticed about the Lakers: “Togetherness … everybody is there for each other. Communication. Chemistry … it’s my second game here, and already building a good chemistry with guys. Great win for us tonight."
Chemistry with Talen Horton-Tucker? Definitely.
Talen Horton-Tucker:
THT took full advantage of his third career start. After being suspended for his part in the Toronto incident, he stepped in as the Lakers ballhandler when Schroder was ejected. He finished with 14 points, 11 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope:
KCP started slowly but he got hot in the second half scoring 14 points (5-10 shooting!), 5 assists and 3 rebounds. With his four shots from distance, he passed Rick Fox for sixth place in 3 point shots in franchise history.
Markieff Morris:
This guy quietly is the most consistent scorer on the roster. He finished with 14 points on 6-8 shooting! But he set the physical tone when he hit Kyrie in the jaw with an elbow in the first half. He also had 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
Look…this refereeing situation needs to be addressed. Read on…
