2. There is nobody that can guard Anthony Davis

This is what makes Anthony Davis so great. It seems so trivial but it is so true: Davis is so skilled as a big man that there are very few, if any, people in the league that can consistently guard him. When Davis plays poorly it is because he played poorly, not because someone shut him down.

The mix of size, skill, range and post-work is just impossible to match up against. We have not even mentioned his defense. The only person in the league that could stop Anthony Davis is probably Anthony Davis himself.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only player that has any sort of chance of having consistent success against AD, but that leaves him off of LeBron James.

Nikola Jokic is great and is likely going to be the league MVP but he is not known for his defensive prowess. Ivica Zubac and Serge Ibaka is not coming close to slowing Anthony Davis down, DeAndre Ayton will get absolutely worked by AD and Rudy Gobert, as great as he is, is not as effective against Davis as other bigs.

Davis is able to bring Gobert out of the paint and really open up the offense for the Lakers. When he goes up against him he typically has really good results. Gobert is great, but even he cannot stop Anthony Davis.

So not only does Davis show up when it matters most, but when he shows up, there is nobody there to meet him at the dance. Achilles injuries are worrisome, yes, but Anthony Davis is still going to absolutely dominate for the Los Angeles Lakers.
