3. Show us the people behind the scenes for the Los Angeles Lakers

In addition to the “others” that make up a championship team, there are prominent figures who don’t play for the team at all. In ‘The Last Dance’, some of the most iconic scenes are Michael Jordan’s moments hanging out with his security detail.

These moments not only provided the biggest laughs, but they also humanized the most immortal figure in sports. Whether it’s gambling in the locker room or calling them in his time of need, Jordan’s relationship with his security guards showcased a side of him that he rarely reveals to the public.

These moments were heartwarming, funny, and absolutely essential to cementing ‘The Last Dance’ as arguably the greatest sports documentary of all time. The Lakers docuseries should aim to follow suit and show us the family that is the Los Angeles Lakers organization.

In fact, even TNT’s Inside The NBA documentary did an excellent job of showing us the familial feel behind the bright stars we see on TV. Whether it’s superfan Jack Nicholson or an unknown figure, it’s hard to say who the unsung hero of the Lakers series will be. However, it’s safe to say we are all longing for similar moments.

Hulu and the Los Angeles Lakers will have to carve their own niche as well, but drawing on the success of The Last Dance can only help.
