Los Angeles Lakers: 4 Lessons in LeBron’s takedown of the Warriors
By Ronald Agers
The Los Angeles Lakers got punched in the mouth and very nearly were down for the count!
LeBron James mentioned an old Mike Tyson quote about everyone having a plan before getting punched in the mouth. Well, the Lake Show Life Lessons staff is old school, so trash talking after knocking down a 30 footer is allowed.
But the bottom line is the Los Angeles Lakers really got lucky. One bad Warriors third quarter coupled with Draymond Green’s undisciplined play with turnovers and offensive foul calls wasted yet another magical performance from Stephen Curry.
Then there’s this from NBA TV’s Sam Mitchell…
The Lakers have some real issues with some members of this roster.
- Kyle Kuzma’s only real evidence of a contribution was after doing deep tissue massage of the box score. 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Third scorer right?
- Dennis Schroder? To the Menace apologists, you might want to sit this one out. There is no justification for that performance. The man almost lost the game for the Lake Show!
- Andre Drummond? The second Frank Vogel sat him down, the Los Angeles Lakers went crazy. Small ball lineups wear Drummond out!
- KCP? To put this in perspective of the Lakers shooting guard, Lake Show Life will say this. He knocked down his first two shots in the game (Both 3 pointers!) and finished 3-5. Three more shots?
- All of this adds up to Anthony Davis and LeBron James doing heavy lifting coming back from injuries. 42 minutes for AD on a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis? 36 minutes for LeBron with a high ankle sprain?
Training staff…Get the ice baths ready!
The Los Angeles Lakers did not have a sense of urgency in this game and it almost cost them a meeting with the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. For two and a half quarters, the Lakers treated this contest like a regular-season game. Hopefully, the Lake Show will mark their calendars for Sunday when the playoffs start for real. Look for a ton of Alex Caruso and Wesley Matthews in crunch time when this team needs perimeter defense. The stars were the stars, but the Lakers don’t win without these two.
The Lakers face the Phoenix Suns for the first time since the 2010 Western Conference Finals. Lakers Nation should remember when Kobe Bryant jumped into a zone in the close out game and tapped coach Alvin Gentry on the behind after knocking down the clincher.
RIP Kobe Bryant and congratulations on getting in the Hall of Fame from Lake Show Life!
