3. Charles Bassey, C, Western Kentucky
Charles Bassey and Neeimas Queta are very similar players although Bassey is more highly regarded in more of the big boards around the league. There is a consensus around Bassey that he is going to be picked in the 20s or 30s, whereas Queta could be a surprise either way.
Everything we touched on with Queta is similar with Bassey as the two players share a very similar skill set. They both are rim protectors that racked up the blocks at the college level and will be good shot-blockers and rebounders in the NBA.
While Queta is probably slightly better defensively, Bassey has more offensive potential. He is still going to be a traditional center and live in the paint, but his success did seem to be more than just a size advantage near the rim.
Either way, there would take some getting used to in the NBA as he would go from blocking shocks in Conference USA to blocking shots in the Western Conference.
Bassey averaged 17.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game last season. There is also potential there for Bassey to stretch the floor, something Queta did not show. While Bassey has plenty of room to grow, he did average 2.1 three-point attempts per game, which is promising in the hope that he can develop an outside shot as well.
He only shot 30.5% from beyond the arc. Not great numbers but decent for someone his size and over time that could develop into a new weapon in his arsenal.
