Los Angeles Lakers: 4 Lessons in series tying win over the Phoenix Suns
By Ronald Agers
LeBron James set the table for the Los Angeles Lakers and then at the end handed out dessert!
Lake Show Life just laid out the severity of Chris Paul’s injured shoulder earlier and we’ll do the same for LeBron James. His ankle injury will be an issue for the rest of the playoffs. Doesn’t matter what is reported, if you watch the basketball games, it’s not hard to tell that James picks his spots when to attack.
LeBron is using his basketball I.Q. to compensate for his injuries and to pick the Suns apart in the mental aspect of the game. Then when it’s time, he gets more aggressive physically to spark the team. Check out the time frame between these two plays here.
This is where LeBron James started to turn it on offensively and get more aggressive. He plays the two-man game with AD with the give-and-go to set up the 3 pointer in the corner. He takes Cam Johnson to school with a fading long-distance shot fading out of bounds. This is a very tough shot that he makes look very easy.
Plus this shot helped stem the tide of a couple of 3 point shots made by Cam Johnson that got the crowd into the game during Phoenix’s comeback.
Then at the end of the game, LeBron continued to make anyone that believes he can’t make clutch shots look like they are not qualified to have a basketball conversation.
LeBron James finished with 23 points (9-16 shooting!), 9 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. The King ran the offense to virtual perfection with only one turnover (The team as a whole had only seven.). Lake Show Life strongly criticized LeBron’s leadership with the report of his possible COVID-19 protocol violation before the series started. He even cleaned that narrative up (More on that later!).
Sure the superstars were under the gun for their subpar play, but Andre Drummond was under the spotlight as well. Even though he finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds, the discussion in the comment section was rampant over if he was affecting Anthony Davis on offense.
It was even believed by some that he would be benched so AD could start at the five spot. Drummond wasn’t benched and the Lakers were rewarded. Read on to see how much.
