2. Talen Horton-Tucker

Talen Horton-Tucker is a restricted free agent while Alex Caruso is an unrestricted free agent. Being a restricted free agent makes THT easier to bring back as the Los Angeles Lakers can match any offer sheet that he agrees to. Meanwhile, Caruso can agree to a deal with any team and there is nothing the Lakers could do about it.

However, that does not mean that THT is a lock to return to LA. There is still the potential of a poison-pill contract and with the other holes on the roster and the salary-cap situation, there is a chance that the Lakers would be out of luck and would have to let him walk.

This would be horrible for the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only is THT really talented, but the Lakers would be losing him for nothing. Fans will prefer him to just stay in LA but if he was going to leave then it made sense to at least get something for him.

The Lakers did not make any trades at the deadline and THT was the big hang-up that kept the team from getting Kyle Lowry. It would be a shame if the Lakers refused to trade THT to go for the title this year only to lose him months later for absolutely nothing.

That, mixed with his potential as a two-way playmaker with his length, makes re-signing THT a must. He might not leave as big of a roster hole as other free agents, but it would represent missed opportunity, whether it be via a trade or the future.
