2. Shooting guard

While the Lakers have youth in the backcourt they could definitely use a two-guard that can hit shots. As good as Talen Horton-Tucker is for his age and despite all of the potential that he has, its hard to deny the fact that he is not a great three-point shooter.

And this was really one of the biggest problems for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. While the injuries definitely hurt the team in the playoffs, it is safe to say that most fans still were not comfortable penciling them in to win the NBA Title, especially compared to last year’s team.

They were not playing as well as last year and one of the main reasons was the lack of consistent shooting alongside the stars. Sure, the team was not a high-profile shooting team last season either but they had some big performances in the playoffs and the efficiency was there. There was no efficiency with the Lakers.

That is why the team struggled so much without Anthony Davis. They did not have the shooters around LeBron to really challenge the Suns, allowing the team to focus in on him.

If the Lakers can land a knockdown shooter, especially one that can place defense, then it will be a great selection for the team. Chris Duarte is probably the dream selection for the Lakers at 22 but it is far from a guarantee that he is there, making shooting guard the second most likely.
