Former all-stars the Los Angeles Lakers could sign: Victor Oladipo

This is the first of two sign-and-trade players that the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially bring in and this was also included in our potential Dennis Schroder sign-and-trade partners article. It all depends on if the Miami Heat want to move on from Oladipo after trading for him this offseason, which would not be all that surprising.

Oladipo was not a fantastic fit on the Heat while he was there and was hurt and was not able to play in the playoffs. The Heat need a point guard much more than they need a two-guard with Tyler Herro and that could convince them to get someone such as Dennis Schroder.

Schroder has that grit-and-grind mentality that serves the Miami Heat so well and truly does feel like a Miami player. I can already picture Schroder in the Miami City Edition jersey and he would be  solid player to bring off the bench and give a higher usage rate when Jimmy Butler is resting.

This would be a gamble for the Lakers. The Lakers would be betting that Oladipo can stay healthy and regain some of his old form. At this point, it is more likely that he does not regain his old form but with the position the Lakers are in, they have to take risks.

If Oladipo can be 90% of what he was when he was an all-star then the Lakers would be getting their third star next to LeBron and AD. The team would be getting a great third scorer who can take some of the burden off of LeBron AD while also playing elite-level defense.

Is that guaranteed? Not at all. Is it an extremely exciting possibility? Absolutely.
